What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient healing modality that is beneficial for everyone.  It is a medicine that can treat an individual on the body, mind, and spirit level.  It has become popular in the treatment of migraines, back pain, as well as chronic pain. This healing method is also helpful in treating depression, anxiety, addictions, fertility issues, menstrual issues, digestions, and much more.

Acupuncture is well documented in western literature and is quickly gaining popularity in the United States as a safe, cost-effective, and proven method for managing symptoms and maintaining wellness. The acupuncturist at Wellness Point strives to help people who have felt that they have not received the attention or help they have sought elsewhere.  Acupuncture is beneficial for everyone; from children to the elderly, from those looking to maintain their wellness to those looking to manage a specific symptom or condition.

If you are ready to make the conscious choice to improve your wellness and live more fully it is time to give acupuncture a try!

Other  Techniques:

Acupuncture is simply one facet of Oriental Medicine. During your treatment, a number of adjunct therapies may be utilized depending on your condition. In addition to acupuncture therapy, these may include some of the following:

This therapy help clear toxins trapped in the body tissues, ease chronic and acute muscle tension, tightness and spasm and even treat and relieve symptoms of the common cold and flu. They are especially useful for relieving neck, shoulder and back pain.  Cupping involves the application of glass or plastic cups with mild to moderate suction to the appropriate areas on the body. The cups are left in place for 5-8min or, with the use of a lubricant oil, can be moved across areas of the body in a “sliding” motion. Cupping has been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin, clear stretch marks and improve varicose veins. Cupping is the best inside-out, deep-tissue massage available!

     Auricular Acupuncture:
Auricular acupuncture is performed by placing small acupuncture needles in points located in the ear. This type of acupuncture is one of the most widely researched forms of acupuncture therapy. It is most often used for detoxification such as smoking cessation, drugs, and weight loss, but can also be very useful for many other types of physical, mental or emotional disorders.

     Heat Therapy:
Heat therapy uses a TDP lamp that is placed close to a specific area of the body to promote blood and qi flow. It is useful in the treatment of many different conditions, and feels great!
