What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique of energy healing with roots in ancient cultures.
The term “Reiki” comes from Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning energy.
Reiki can be used for many things, such as stress reduction, relaxation, pain relief, reduced anxiety and depression, pre- and post-surgical healing, and creating an overall feeling of peach, security, relaxation, and well-being.
Eastern belief is that vital life force energy flows through your body to support health and vitality. Reiki therapy helps guide that energy to promote balance and healing through gentle touch. A Reiki Practitioner uses their hands to not only deliver energy to your body, but also to improve the flow and balance of your energy to assist in healing. Energy blocks can impede the flow of energy causing, not only health problems, but also negative life circumstances. Energy blocks can be sensed and treated to allow for movement of energy for the greatest good of the client.
The patient’s body only allows the energy needed to flow from Practitioner’s hands. This allows the patient to receive only what they need for healing.

Reiki is used along with traditional medical treatments. Like any intervention, Reiki is not a cure-all and shouldn’t be viewed as such, however, it is safe and effective enough that a considerable number of U.S. hospitals offer Reiki healing as a complement to medical interventions.
What to expect during a Reiki Session:
Treatment lasts about 50 minutes. You will be guided into a relaxed state while lying on a massage table fully clothed. The Reiki Practitioner uses gentle touch to allow energy flow through their hands. Reiki can be performed with no touch and hands just above your body if preferred.
Some people experience the energy as a sensation such as heat or tingling and some people do not perceive any sensations at all. Most people feel relaxed and peaceful during treatment and many even fall asleep.
It is recommended to receive 3-5 sessions to allow time to evaluate what benefits you are noticing and then determine how best your Reiki Practitioner can meet your needs and schedule future sessions to suit your needs and schedule.
Reiki can even be performed as distance healing, where Reiki is sent over miles.
